Reflections on 2008
"The weekend at The Summit was wonderful. While there were a number of familiar faces, there were still quite a few fresh faces that are on the same journey. Many people had an opportunity to share their stories. It is amazing to hear the things God is achieving, even the opportunities to minister outside your comfort zone. The opportunity to join with fellow believers in working in the Outback Australia to Orphanages in Uganda.
Some shared their struggles and to see the opportunity to minister to them was also given. The end of the Summit the floor was opened up for those who gained any insight of what they learned and to share with others. One man realised that he'd been sitting back waiting and watching God work; he felt he needed to be more 'intentional'. This was articulated well for a few. As a house church we can rest a little too much.
Overall it is was good to see other people on a similar journey; seeing the high and lows, but mainly the encouragement was superb. Many years ago Bessie shared ...some house churches within Australia, she likened to being deep pools with very little or no connection... I saw the result of this weekend like nutgrass. Nutgrass is a weed... no matter where it shoots up and you try to eradicate it, the nut /seed is elsewhere under the ground. There is connection now happening - though only thin at this stage but strong. You can destroy the fruit of the nutgrass but not the source.
There was a vote as to who would like to do this again... it was voted with a resounding "YES"!
Hopefully, you'll be able to come to the next one and share your journey which will in turn encourage others or you yourself might be built up.
Yours Truly,
Annette Land, Shailer Park QLD
